The SS "Rathmore" was built by Vickers of Barrow in 1908, and operated on the London & North Western Railway's ferry service across the Irish Sea to Greenore.
The "Rathmore" was sunk in a collision on 4th May 1914 during the First World War, but was salvaged and returned to service. In 1927 she was renamed "Lorain" and operated on the Tilbury to Dunkirk service until she was scrapped in 1932.
