Woman using a mangle in her kitchen, 1955. She is about to remove excess water by wringing the washing through an Acme mangle. This is a production still from the British Transport Films unit's film, "A Day of One's Own". The film was made to publicise leisure travel, and featured a housewife's visit to Durham.
