Caption:
This ivory figure of a pregnant female is lying on a wood and cloth bed and has an ivory pillow under its head. The figure has some removable organs and was probably used to instruct lay people about basic human anatomy, particularly relating to pregnancy. It is unlikely that these figures would have been used to instruct medical students or midwives due to the inadequate anatomical detail.
