Caption:
This can was flown on Space Shuttle mission 51-F, flown by the Challenger orbiter in July 1985. It is designed to dispense a carbonated beverage in microgravity. The packaging of food and drink for astronauts requires care and ingenuity, as in weightless conditions, 'blobs' of food and drink can escape and float around the interior of a spacecraft.
