The Moorrees form board with ten regular and irregular shaped depressions, each to be filled with two or more coloured wooden pieces, was a test devised by the National Institute of Industrial Psychology (NIIP). Founded in 1921, this organisation introduced the scientific study of work psychology to Great Britain. This test is from the Rowntree's Chocolate Works in York and was used from the 1920s onwards in the selection of staff for chocolate packing. By selecting people with certain innate skills, it was hoped that they would be more productive and happier in their work. Candidates had to fit the coloured pieces into the slots on the board in the correct sequence in a given period of time. The test is shown in its completed form.
