Caption:
Hitler (1889-1945) sits at a table surrounded by an attentive crowd. Hitler became chancellor of a German coalition cabinet in January 1933. In February a fire destroyed part of the Reichstag (German parliament building). Hitler accused the Communists of having set the fire, launching a campaign against the Communists. He crushed opposition in his own party and re-armed Germany, his policy of territorial expansion eventually leading to WWII.
